Man charged with intoxication manslaughter in crash involving Rodeo Houston buses

HOUSTON – One man was killed Tuesday in a drunken driving crash in southwest Houston.

Police arrested Gregory Charles, 43, and charged him with intoxication manslaughter.

Police said the victim, a 65-year-old man, was stopped around 11:50 p.m. at a red light at the intersection of Almeda and Reed Road when Charles, who was in a black Chevrolet Avalanche, slammed into the back of the sports car. 

The impact of the crash pushed the car through the intersection, into the back of an empty charter bus used to take people to Rodeo Houston parking lots, and into a second charter bus, police said.

The driver of the Nissan was was pronounced dead on the scene.

Charles was taken to a hospital where he was tested and found to be intoxicated.
