HOUSTON – The Houston Rodeo isn't just about livestock competitions and concerts. For many, it's about the food. And we're not just talking about the BBQ cook-off.

Local food enthusiasts packed NRG Center on Sunday for a taste of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. That's where the Rodeo Uncorked! Roundup and Best Bites Competition was held.

The competition featured dishes from 111 distinguished local restaurants, chefs and caterers.

The food was paired with winning wines from the 2017 Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition. Thousands of guests were at the sold-out event to enjoy the rodeo flavor.

Winners were picked in several food categories.

Third Place - Cotton Culinary - duck roulade with candied jalapeño, wrapped with smoked hatch bacon

Reserve Grand Champion - Killen's STQ - pork belly burnt ends with cherry habanero sauce and a side of creamed corn
Third Place - Hearsay Gastro Lounge Market Square - Southern-fried Texas quail on 5-year-aged sharp cheddar grits with a Thai chili, bacon, bourbon and butter honey
