Police investigating after crash kills 1 in west Houston

HOUSTON – Police are investigating after a crash killed one person Saturday in west Houston.

Police responded to reports of a crash at 3:25 a.m. Saturday at 2689 West Sam Houston Parkway.

According to police, a black Chevy Suburban was speeding through a red light on the West Sam Houston Parkway feeder road at Westheimer Road when the driver smashed into a black Mercedes Benz S-550 traveling east.

The male driver of the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been identified.

A woman in the passenger seat was taken to the hospital in serious condition. 

The Suburban driver was taken to the hospital in serious, but stable condition, according to officials.

According to police, the investigation is awaiting blood test results on the driver of the Suburban.
