FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – A man accused of stealing several items, including possessions from a police cruiser was arrested Monday morning in Fort Bend County, deputies said.
The incident was reported at 7:54 a.m. at the Grand Mission Subdivision when Fort Bend County sheriff deputies responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a home.
Deputies said they found Patrick Gifford, 21, in the vehicle and he appeared to be intoxicated. After investigating the vehicle, deputies indicated the suspect is linked to several vehicle burglaries in the area overnight, including a police cruiser.
Deputies said they found the police officer’s traffic vest, plate carrier, body armor, and his red and blue lights, which were returned to the officer.
Gifford was arrested and charged with burglary of a motor vehicle and he will possibly be charged with possession of body armor.
“We got a break in what most likely will be a few cases thanks to a resident who was being vigilant by calling our dispatch about a suspicious vehicle and providing a photo of the truck,” Sheriff Troy E. Nehls said. “I also want to commend the responding deputy on a job well done.”
