ROSENBERG, Texas – A couple from Houston was arrested Thursday during a traffic stop after police found stolen items in their vehicle connected to auto burglaries in Rosenberg and Sugar Land, authorities said.

Jeremiah Peyton, 30, and Monique Stewart, 24, were arrested by Sugar Land police after officers spotted their vehicle on interstate 69, according to Rosenberg police.

Police said the pair was stopped shortly after fleeing the scene of a vehicle burglary at an Academy store in Rosenberg.

During the traffic stop, officers said the driver tried to flee on foot but was captured.
