Passenger dies in crash after woman runs red light, HPD says

HOUSTON – A man died Saturday after the driver of the vehicle in which he was riding in ran a red light near 3399 East Loop North, police said. 

According to HPD, the 26-year-old driver of a gray Mitsubishi Galant was eastbound on Market Street and ran the red light at the intersection of the East Loop.

The driver of a tractor-truck southbound on the East Highway 610 Loop Service road struck the Mitsubishi on the passenger side. 

A passenger in the Mitsubishi was taken to the hospital, where he died, officials said. 

The driver of the Mitsubishi was also taken to the hospital and was determined not to be impaired, police said.
