Tarkington ISD teacher accused of having inappropriate communication with students, officials say

CLEVELAND, Texas – A Tarkington High School teacher is accused of having inappropriate communication with students, officials said.

The Tarkington Independent School District said they became aware of allegations that the teacher was communicating with students through text and social media, according to officials.

The school said they immediately removed the teacher of his duties and placed him on administrative leave. After further investigation into the matter, he was officially let go from the school, authorities said.

Tarkington High School released the following statement in regard to the issue:

“All Tarkington ISD staff undergo criminal background checks before being hired. TISD expects all staff to interact appropriately with students at all times and has adopted policies and regulations clearly stating these expectations and communicate them with all of our employees. The safety and security of our students is our highest priority at Tarkington ISD.”

At this time, there are no known charges pending against the teacher.
