Man accused of assaulting wife, 2-year-old girl

HOUSTON – Carlos Roberto Contreras-Ocampo, 22, has been charged with assault of a family member and injury to a child after investigators said he injured a 2-year-old during a domestic disturbance and also assaulted his wife.

Contreras-Ocampo knocked over a couch with the child on it, according to court documents.

Houston police responded to a family disturbance call at an apartment at 5801 N. Houston Rossalyn Road on Sunday.

The mother of the 2-year-old girl told police that during an argument, Contreras-Ocampo flipped over the couch her child was lying on. She said the child was thrown onto the floor and injured.

Police said the child showed signs of suffering a blow to the head.

According to court documents, since November, Contreras-Ocampo committed two acts of injury to a family member.

He is accused of punching his wife in the head around that time, and when she tried to leave the home, Contreras-Ocampo pulled her back into the house and continued to punch her in the head.

Contreras-Ocampo then grabbed a butcher knife and raised it up as if to stab his wife, according to court documents.

He stopped when his wife's cousin got on the phone to call 911, according to court documents.
