Woman robbed at gunpoint near Bayou on Allen Parkway; her warning to public

HOUSTON – An 18-year-old woman has a warning for people who walk, run or hang out near the Bayou along Allen Parkway and Sabine Street, after she and her friend were robbed at gunpoint Thursday night.

The two were out for a walk when they noticed two suspicious men coming toward them and one of them "just approached us."

“He had a gray hoodie on. He had his hands in his pockets and he pulled out a huge, black pistol and put it at my forehead,” the college student said. "He said, ‘Give me everything!’”

While the two robbers approached them along the walking path, a third person was acting as a lookout on the Sabine Bridge.

The men got away with the victim’s purse, phone and ID.

Some other people who were walking dogs nearby came to help the teens and called the police.

“It was probably the scariest thing that has ever happened to me,” she said.  “I’ve never been scared of guns but when it’s aimed at you and you feel how heavy it is, you know it’s real and loaded, probably.  It’s pretty scary.”

Unfortunately, she didn’t get a good look at the men because their faces were hard to see. She does want to warn others and tell them to be careful and very aware of their surroundings when out walking around town.
