Off-duty officer shot at while chasing robbery suspects, police say

HOUSTON – An off-duty Houston Police Department officer was not shot at while pursuing robbery suspects on Tuesday night, according to HPD.

Initially, HPD tweeted that an off-duty officer had been shot at, but after their investigation, they said an off-duty officer who was working as a security guard at an apartment complex near 9000 Almeda Road was coming into work when he saw a disturbance between two people.

When the officer approached the disturbance, one of the suspects ran, so the officer chased after him.

The other suspect in the altercation then shot at the suspect the officer was chasing, according to police.

The officer was not hit and police said everyone is fine and the suspect is in custody.

KPRC will provide updates when they become available.
