HOUSTON – A driver is facing charges after a police chase in northwest Houston.

Investigators say that a DPS trooper tried to pull over a speeding car on Hempstead Highway near Windfern Road around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, but the driver kept going, according to officials.

The chase ended when the driver reportedly lost control and crashed, flipping the car upside down.

The fire department had to use tools to pull the two men out of the car, authorities said.

Police said the driver was taken to Ben Taub hospital in serious condition and the passenger was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

There is no word at this time as to why the men allegedly ran from officers.
