Man shot to death while walking to work with father, police say

HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 10175 Harwin around 9:50 a.m. Dec. 7, 2016.

Juan Tzep Cotiy, 17, of Houston, was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Doctors pronounced him dead Monday.

Cotiy and his father were walking to work near the address where the shooting took place, police said.

As Cotiy walked ahead of his father, two men ran toward him from across the street, according to police.

According to Cotiy's father, a third man got out of a small, four-door vehicle parked in a nearby driveway, grabbed Cotiy and shot him one time.

All three men then got back into the silver vehicle and left the scene.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported Cotiy to the hospital.

The men are described as young and Hispanic, with hoodies and bandanas; one was armed with a pistol.

All three left the scene in a silver 2000 to 2006 four-door, silver import sedan.
