Deputy constable fires at driver that tried to run her over, officials say

KATY, Texas – A deputy constable fired at a vehicle Monday afternoon when the driver of the vehicle tried to run her over near Katy, according to officials.

According to officials, someone reported that their vehicle was stolen about 11 a.m. near the intersection of Greenhouse Road and F.M. Road 529. The caller used an installed GPS system to locate the vehicle.

Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constables responded to the location provided by the caller and found a white Mercedes with two people inside, officials said. They said that as the deputies approached the vehicle, the driver drove toward one of the deputies. They said the deputy jumped out of the way and fired at the vehicle.

The Mercedes struck a patrol car and traveled another two miles before the vehicle stopped, officials said.

Officials said the two people who were in the car fled on foot, but were found hiding in an abandoned house near Greenhouse Road and Strathmore Place Lane.
