1 dead after car strikes wall on Katy Freeway near Beltway 8


HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating after a driver hit a retaining wall and died on the Katy Freeway on Thursday.

The incident was reported at 1:15 p.m. at 10900 Katy Freeway at West Interstate Highway 10.

Police said a 58-year-old man was driving a silver Lincoln LS when he failed to stay in a single lane and clipped the concrete barrier. Witnesses told police the vehicle continued driving eastbound while spinning and the struck another concrete barrier located on the south side of the freeway.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The incident is under investigation.
