Woman killed, 2 children injured in head-on collision, DPS says

A woman died and two children were injured when the vehicle the woman was driving crashed into a tow truck Thursday morning.

The Department of Public Safety said Elizabeth Bryant had been driving west on US-190 when she veered into a tow truck that was headed east.

DPS said Bryant's vehicle stuck the front of the tow truck and came to rest in a ditch.

Bryant was pronounced dead at the scene. She had two children in the vehicle with her. A 7-year-old boy was taken to Herman Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, and a 4-year-old girl was taken to Huntsville Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released.

The driver of the tow truck, Mark Erb, 47, did not suffer injuries in the crash.
