Surveillance released in connection with shooting of man in driveway of home

Houston police are investigating a shooting that happened on July 17 in which a man was killed in southeast Houston.

Investigators said Francisco Ortega Martinez, 35, and his girlfriend pulled into their home at 7322 Lamar Street around 3:25 a.m.

A detective said when the girlfriend went to the back door of the home, she heard yelling and someone saying, “Give me your money, give me your money,” to her boyfriend.

Investigators said she called the police. The girlfriend said she did not go back to the truck because she was too afraid, so she did not see her boyfriend’s attackers.

Police found Martinez, who had been shot. He was taken to Ben Taub hospital where he later died, investigators said.

SURVEILLANCE VIDEO: Surveillance video of the suspect, seen walking toward a white SUV from the upper right-hand side of the screen, police said.

Homicide police said a dark-colored sedan of an unknown make and model was following Martinez westbound on Lamar Street just before the shooting. Investigators said the car sped off, heading eastbound on Lamar Street, moments after Martinez was shot.

Surveillance video shows the shooter as a Hispanic male standing 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 210 pounds and is said to be in his mid-20s.

Police do not have a description of the gunmen, and ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
