Excitement surrounds Houston International Boat Show at NRG Center

HOUSTON – It may feel like winter outside, but you can start dreaming of warmer days and summer adventures right now.

The Houston Boat Show begins Friday.

Living so close to the Gulf Coast and beautiful lakes, boating and fishing are things a lot of Houston families invest time and money in every year.

Whether it’s a hobby or your business, one step inside NRG Center and you’ll be hooked.

The largest indoor show for outdoor sports is about to take float.

Setup is underway for boats, fishing gear, boats, RVs and did we mention -- million dollar boats?

Organizers hope opening day will make a splash, because they have to reel everything in Saturday.

#KPRC2 Family Day at the Houston Boat Show is this Friday, Jan. 6! Show this post to the Boat Show box office and get 2-for-1 admission. Valid this Friday only.

The Texans landing a spot in a playoff game means the boat show will be docked for one day.

The second wave of the boat show gets in motion Sunday and continues for another week.

So, there’s plenty of time to check out the 5,000-gallon aquarium filled with dozens of fish that is manned by a fishing expert.

For the little anglers, there’s fish-o-rama, which is a tank filled with rainbow trout looking for a bite.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6-12, but you can save by attending opening day, which is KPRC Family Day, and with one little coupon you can get 2-for-1 adult tickets.
