Rosenberg PD: Teen accused of aggravated robbery, evading police

Emmanuel Akueir faces charges

ROSENBERG, Texas – A 17-year-old boy is accused of hitting a person in the head with a gun after the victim wouldn’t cooperate with the teen’s robbery demands, police said Tuesday.

Emmanuel Akueir then took off after a short scuffle, but when officers with the Rosenberg Police Department finally caught up with the teen, he tried to evade investigators by running to the back of his home, according to a news release from police.

From there, officers took Akueir into custody fairly quickly.

Police found the gun used in the earlier incident -- a black and silver pellet gun, which was inside Akueir’s home -- and the teen confessed to the robbery, officers said. He also admitted the pellet gun belonged to him, according to police.

Akueir lives in the area of the robbery. It’s not clear how exactly officers and detectives identified the teen, but they showed up at his home and made the arrest. The robbery victim was able to provide a physical description of Akueir.

The victim only suffered minor injuries, and refused medical treatment. The incident took place about 2:45 p.m. at 819 Lane Drive, at the Victoria Gardens Apartments.

The victim was hit when he refused to show or give up the contents of his pocket.

Akueir was booked at the Rosenberg City Jail. He faces counts of aggravated robbery and evading arrest. No bond has been set. Akueir will eventually be taken to the Fort Bend County Jail.
