HOUSTON – A man is dead after crashing a van into a ditch in Northwest Harris County on Sunday, police said.
Deputies said around 5:50 a.m., the driver failed to stay in a single lane on Breen Drive and lost control, driving into a drainage ditch.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the van, according to investigators.
He died at the scene.
Deputies identified the man as Luis Mendez.
Deputies said there was another passenger asleep in the van who was not injured.
It is unknown why the driver lost control.
