Woman arrested after leading police on chase

HOUSTON – A female driver was arrested Thursday afternoon after a police chase came to an end on the Southwest Freeway.

Jennifer Moriston, 43, is charged with evading arrest.

The chase lasted for about 40 miles, police said.

Police were in pursuit of a green van after attempting to pull it over in Austin County for a broken tail light.

Katy police requested assistance from Houston police around 3:35 p.m. after the chase continued on the Grand Parkway and I-10 near Katy.

DPS said Moriston lost officers for a little while and was in possession of drugs. Police said they found drug paraphernalia and a meth pipe inside the van.

Moriston was detained after a successful PIT maneuver, in which a law enforcement vehicle bumps into the suspect's vehicle, was executed by a state trooper in an SUV.
