Houston police said Stacey Allen Johnson beat his child with an extension cord after a teacher told Johnson that his daughter had gotten in trouble in gym class.

Police said when the 8-year-old got home, Johnson whipped her with a long extension cord, striking her in the face, legs and back. The child told police that she fell because she couldn’t stand up any more during the beating.

Police said the child suffered from a cut above her eye, abrasions and bruising to both sides of her face, an open cut behind her left ear, and open cuts and bruises over her body.

Police said the 8-year-old told them she felt like she was going to die.
