1 arrested, 2 sought in attack on off-duty Montgomery County deputy

CONROE, Texas – Three people have now been arrested in connection with the attack on an off-duty Montgomery County deputy last Saturday.

The deputy and his wife were at the Summerhill Food Mart on Sorters Road in Porter on Dec. 10 when two people ran up and hit the deputy in the head, investigators said. The deputy’s wife heard the commotion, grabbed her gun and fired at the attackers. The deputy then grabbed his gun and also fired.

The attackers jumped in a vehicle and fled the scene, investigators said.

The deputy suffered some injuries to his face, but his wife was not injured.

Deputies said that one person, who was only described a juvenile male, was arrested on Dec. 16. He was charged with aggravated robbery.

Investigators said they also issued warrants for the arrest of Michael Gene Jones, 17, and Israel Treqwaun Hunter, 19. They were both arrested on Dec. 22. Both have been charged with aggravated robbery.

Investigators said they do not believe the deputy was targeted because of his occupation.
