HOUSTON – A woman was killed Friday morning and a man was injured in a hit-and-run crash northwest of Houston.

The crash was reported about 2:15 a.m. at the intersection of Fallbrook Drive and State Highway 249, which is also known as Tomball Parkway.

According to Harris County deputies, a 45-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man tried to cross the street and were hit by a pickup. A car then hit the woman after she fell to the ground.

The woman died at the scene, deputies said. The man was taken to Ben Taub Hospital and is expected to recover.

Deputies said the driver of the car that hit the woman stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. However, the driver of the truck left the scene, deputies said. That vehicle was described only as a red, older-model Chevrolet pickup.

Deputies said pieces of the truck were left behind.
