Tomball police seek burglar accused of stealing from business

Burglar took cash, merchandise items at Steam House Vapors, police say

TOMBALL, Texas – Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the person who burglarized a Tomball business.

The Tomball Police Department said it received a call Dec. 5 about a burglary of a building at Steam House Vapors at 30512 Tomball Pkwy. The burglary happened at 1:14 a.m.

Police said the burglar was seen on surveillance video breaking the glass out of the front door and entering the business, police said.

The suspected burglar took cash and several merchandise items while in the business, police said.

From the surveillance video, it appears the man knew exactly what to do when he broke through the glass on the front door.

With his flashlight, the man goes straight to the cash register, pulls out the cash drawer and sets it on the counter with the few hundred dollars inside.

Next, he goes to the back office, and while still holding the flashlight, he tries to pry open the door, but is unsuccessful against the keypad lock, so he starts getting aggressive, kicking the door until it finally gives in.

He searches the office for seconds, and leaves with a personal safe, not knowing it had recently been emptied.

Store owner Billy Dugdale said in those few minutes the suspect cost more money in damages than he took off with.

Dugdale said it's upsetting to have someone try to take away all of his hard work.

"It's a disgrace that somebody would do that. I work really, really hard for what I have here. It was upsetting, just really upsetting," Dugdale said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Smith at 281-290-1315.
