Stolen bait truck leads to police chase in northeast Houston

2 arrested in northeast Houston

HOUSTON – Two men were arrested after stealing police department's "bait" trucks, Houston police said.

The Houston Police Department's auto theft unit received an alarm at 1:30 a.m. today on a pickup truck that the department used as a bait vehicle.

The truck was being driven on East Hardy Road at Crosstimbers Street in north Houston. Police caught up to the truck and tried to get the driver to pull over, but he kept going, police said, and a chase ensued.

The chase ended minutes later on North Wayside near Fields Street in northeast Houston when the suspect stopped the truck and ran away.

The man was caught and arrested. The man's suspected accomplice, who police said was driving behind the man in the pickup, was also arrested.
