Southwest Houston apartment fire blamed on electrical issue

HOUSTON – Firefighters believe an electrical fire damaged two apartments in southwest Houston on Thursday night.

Firefighters were called about 10:45 p.m. to the Airport Landing Apartments on Fondren and West Airport.

They found the fire in the outside front wall of the building. Firefighters say the residents had already evacuated safely.

One man said he smelled smoke and then saw the fire. He woke up his wife and then knocked on his neighbors' doors to get out.

Firefighters said the fire started in the wall.

Two apartments suffered water and smoke damage. Two others were affected by the fire.

No one was hurt.
