Grandmother targeted in murder-for-hire plot

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. – Three Florida men have been arrested as part of a murder-for-hire plot targeting a 73-year-old woman, the mother and grandmother of two of the men.

The plot developed while the intended victim was overseas with her husband, according to the Indian River County Sheriff's Office.

The plan called for the woman, after she returned from her trip, to be injected with a substantial amount of insulin.

The sheriff's office identified the suspects as Suraj Narine, 44, and his 20-year-old son Christopher Narine. A third suspect was identified as Michiel Gene Hamons, who went by the name of Shorty.

The sheriff's office said Hamons was to dispose of the body for $5,000.

The sheriff said Suraj and Christopher were both unemployed and lived with his Suraj's mother and father.
