HPD kicks off annual Comida Food Drive

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is working to make sure every family has food on the table for its holiday meal.

The department kicked off its annual Comida Food Drive Monday morning.

Fiesta grocery store opened its doors to the police department for a friendly competition to see which store can gather the most donations.

The Comida Food Drive began 31 years ago when an officer expressed concern for the less fortunate citizens of Houston.

The food drive has provided food for more than 4,000 families and raised more than $64,000 in last year's donations in the city of Houston.
