Police investigate deadly shooting on Houston's south side

HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Saturday at a home on the south side.

HPD patrol officers said they responded to reports of a drive-by shooting at a home on Chimira Lane just after midnight.

Police saw a black Chevrolet Impala heading eastbound on Chimira Lane. 

Someone in the Impala fired multiple times at a group of people who were standing in the driveway, according to investigators.

The victim was identified as 23 year-old Chazton R. Jones. Investigators said he was shot several times. He was taken to Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. 

Police said Jones was the only person who was struck. 

The driver  of the Impala continued east on Chimira Lane toward Buffum Street.
