Family demands justice after man dies in possible road-rage incident

KATY, Texas – A Houston mother is demanding someone be held accountable for her son’s death after he was killed in a possible road-rage crash along I-10.

The crash happened the morning of Sept. 23 on I-10 West near Barker Cypress.

Juan “Johnny” Morales, who worked as a machinist, was riding his motorcycle to work when police said at some point he got into a dispute with the driver of a silver SUV and the two drivers started passing one another.

When the driver of the SUV went to change lanes, police said she hit Johnny’s motorcycle as he tried to pass her up.

“He died instantly,” said Ede Flores, Johnny’s mother.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and was questioned by police but ultimately released without facing any charges.

“That lady needs to pay for what she did,” Flores said. “She just took my son’s life and now she’s out having fun.”

Flores said her 26-year-old son was a hard worker who was loved by his siblings and he was about to become an uncle.

“He had a whole future ahead of him,” Flores said.

On Thursday, HPD told Channel 2 the crash is still under investigation and charges may or may not be filed against the driver of the SUV once the investigation is complete.
