Argument over money leads to hostage situation in northwest Harris County, deputies say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – An hours-long hostage situation at a home in northwest Harris County involving a high-risk operations unit ended Friday morning .

The standoff started around 9 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 10900 block of Wilkenberg near Hiltonview. Deputies said the homeowner was being held inside the house by a gunman.

After several hours of negotiating, a SWAT team went inside and used a powerful form of tear gas to get the man out. They took both the accused hostage taker and the homeowner into custody.

According to deputies, the homeowner appeared to have been pistol whipped.

Investigators said the gunman will face several charges, including aggravated kidnapping.

Deputies believe the incident started after an argument over money.
