HOUSTON – A man was arrested and charged Wednesday after he forced his ex-girlfriend inside her vehicle in northeast Houston, authorities said.
According to deputy constables, two witnesses said they saw a woman being assaulted and forced into a vehicle at 7800 block of Arbury Glen.
Harris County Precinct 4 Deputy Constable Mark Herman said Juan Roman, 20, waited outside his ex-girlfriend’s home. When she tried to take her 10-year-old cousin to school, the deputy constable said he forced himself into her vehicle.
Roman jumped on the hood of the vehicle and hit the windshield when he attempted to get inside, the deputy constable said.
According to deputy constables, Roman entered the vehicle and assaulted his ex-girlfriend before taking off at high speed with her and the child still inside the vehicle. Authorities said he dropped the cousin off at her school’s parking lot.
After he stopped, Roman forced the woman to unlock her cellphone and as he let go of her, she was able to run away from him, according to deputy constables
He tried chasing her but soon realized a crowd of people was around and fled the scene in her vehicle, deputy constables said.
Deputy constables were able to arrest and charge Roman with unlawful constraint and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
He is being held on a $3,500 bond.
