Varsity football player shoots BB gun at 9th-graders during prank at Lamar Consolidated
ROSENBERG, Texas – Friday was Homecoming at Lamar Consolidated High School in Rosenberg, and school district officials confirm to KPRC that prior to the homecoming pep rally an incident took place in the locker room.
A few varsity football players were there along with some ninth-grade players when one of the varsity players reportedly pulled out a BB gun and began firing shots, randomly.
Three ninth-grade students were struck and injured.
But district officials are calling the incident a prank.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Lamar CISD said, "We’re extremely disappointed in the actions of our student-athletes. We have no tolerance for this type of behavior. We will review the incident and the students involved will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action.”
The case remains under investigation and, according to Rosenberg police, no students are facing charges at this time.
