Twin brothers accused of beating, kidnapping man to pay $10 debt

SPRING, Texas – Twin brothers Frederick and Cedrick Woodard appeared in front a judge Thursday night, charged with aggravated kidnapping.

The brothers are accused of breaking into a Spring-area apartment on Ella Boulevard and demanding $10 from a man who lived there.

He didn’t have the cash, so investigators said the brothers beat him.

“These two defendants asked for $10, and when the man couldn’t pay, they struck him with a broom and shovel handles and dragged him off,” the prosecutor said in court.

“They end up abducting him, taking him from the apartment against his will,” said Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman.

The victim’s roommate called 911, and deputies came to the apartment to investigate.

Herman told KPRC that when his officers started to arrive on scene, they spotted the accused men walking nearby.

“They still had the clubs in their hands that they used to beat him in the apartment,” said Herman.

According to deputies, the twin brothers told them they wanted the $10 that was owed to them, and since the man couldn’t pay, they planned to force him to panhandle until he could collect the money.

“They obviously knew who he was,” Herman said. “They were taking him to an intersection to panhandle.”

Officers arrested the two brothers, who were originally charged with aggravated robbery, but prosecutors changed the charge to aggravated kidnapping.
They are both being held on $30,000 bond.

“Deputies have had issues with them before,” Herman said. “It’s good to get these guys off the streets.”
