Lockdown lifted at Westbury High School after man was shot in chest near campus, police say

HOUSTON – Westbury High School in southwest Houston was on lockdown Friday morning after a man was shot in the chest.

Houston police said the man was shot inside an apartment complex on Gasmer drive at Burdine Street next to Westbury High School.

He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Authorities said he was not a student.

According to the district, the lockdown was lifted around 10:30 a.m.
