KEMAH, Texas – The Houston Coast Guard and the Kemah Fire Department rescued two men in a boat in the water off Kemah.
The Coast Guard said crews responded to a call at 8:25 p.m. Thursday about a 17-foot boat that was taking on water 100 yards off Kemah.
Officials said they sent a chopper along with rescue swimmers, who were lowered from the helicopter to recover the men from the boat. Both of the stranded men were brought to safety.
The Kemah Fire Department also responded and helped tow the boat to safety, authorities reported.
"We greatly appreciate the Kemah Fire Department for responding quickly to a growing dire situation," said Coast Guard Officer Paul Panella.
Neither of the men reported any injuries.
