Two men were pushing a car off the road when a woman believed to have been drunk hit them from behind and fled, Precinct 4 deputies said.
Two men were pushing a disabled vehicle south in the outbound lane of Cypresswood Drive on Sunday when Ashley Villarreal, driving a Dodge Challenger, hit the rear of the disabled vehicle, according to authorities.
The crash severely injured both men’s legs, and they were taken to Memorial Herman Woodlands Hospital by Cy-Creek EMS, deputies said.
Villarreal fled the scene after the crash with her 5-year-old daughter in the back seat, according to authorities.
Deputies said they chased Villarreal and took her into custody.
"Investigating units detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of Ms. Villarreal and completed on-scene field sobriety testing. A search warrant was obtained authorizing the collection of a blood sample as part of the investigation," Constable Mark Herman said.
Villarreal is charged with intoxication assault and evading in a motor vehicle. Her bond was set at $35,000.
