Fans camp out in front of Apple store waiting for iPhone 7 release

HOUSTON – Apple enthusiasts are camping out at the Apple store in Highland Village, hoping to get their hands on a new iPhone 7.

Sheazaan Bandukia arrived with his friends at around 10 Thursday morning. They set up a tent and chairs. There is even a porta potty near the line for anyone who has to use the restroom throughout the night.

“You know how youngsters are, they want to have everything the first day, especially the iPhone,” Bandukia said.

Apple is set to release the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus on Friday, even though most stores, including the Highland Village location, have already sold out of the iPhone 7 plus and the iPhone 7 in jet black.

The new models feature better cameras, processing and battery life, just to name a few improvements.

Apple lover Vaughn Simon would like to get his hands on an iPhone 7 plus, but says he will settle for the iPhone 7 for now. He has been camping out in front of the Apple Store for the past nine years any time a new model comes out.

This year, he pitched a tent and even has a cot to sleep on.

“It’s just a revolutionary communications device,” Simon said.

The Highland Village location will open at 8 a.m. Friday for customers who pre-ordered. Everyone else will have to wait until 10 a.m.
