One dead in shooting outside strip mall, police say
HOUSTON – Homicide detectives are investigating a deadly shooting Saturday afternoon outside a strip mall in southwest Houston.
Police said one person was found dead in a shot-up SUV in the parking lot of a strip mall in the 6100 block of Wilcrest after an apparent shooting around 3 p.m. Saturday.
"We do believe he was seated in his vehicle when the shooting began," David Williamson, with the Houston Police Department, said. "We believe that it's more than one suspect that was involved in the shooting. There were multiple shots fired."
Strewn about the parking lot were several business cards. They were marked and processed as part of the crime scene.
"We're still determining where the cards came from. If they belonged to the suspects or the victim, or if they're unrelated altogether," Williamson said.
Police are interviewing witnesses and checking for surveillance video from nearby businesses.
