Man charged in deadly crash after trying to run away, police say

BAYTOWN, Texas – Raul Aaron Tadeo, 23, was charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle after a deadly crash in Baytown, according to court documents. 

Citizens detained Tadeo before police took him into custody when he attempted to run away after causing an accident that killed a woman, according to Baytown police.

Saturday, around 2 a.m., a Chevrolet Camaro and Chevrolet pickup truck collided at the intersection of Garth Road and Decker Drive, police said.

The pickup driver, Tadeo, attempted to run from the scene when nearby citizens detained him until police could take over, according to investigators.

Police said Tadeo resisted being arrested upon their arrival, which resulted with police using a Taser on him before taking him into custody.

The driver of the Camaro, Cassandra Jimenez, 20, was transported to Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased, according to police.

A passenger in the Camaro, a 21-year-old Baytown man, was not seriously injured and is cooperating with the police investigation, investigators said.

Police took Tadeo to the Baytown Municipal Jail, where he faces charges of felony failure to stop and render aid, driving while intoxicated and intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, according to police.

Tadeo will appear in court on Tuesday, according to court documents.
