Thief steals wallet from woman inside Party City

SUGAR LAND, Texas – Sugar Land police are looking for a woman who was caught on surveillance video stealing a wallet from another woman inside a Party City store.

The victim said she last saw her wallet in a store in the 16000 block of Highway 59 on August 22 around 3:40 p.m.

Police said she was in line waiting to pay for merchandise, removed a credit card from her wallet, placed the wallet on the countertop at the register, answered a phone call and completed her purchase. She then placed her credit card in a bag of merchandise and left the store.

She quickly realized her wallet was left behind, police said.  She went back inside, but the wallet was gone.

According to reports, she returned to the store the following day and called police. A review of the store's surveillance video showed a person take the woman's wallet about a minute after it was placed on the counter.

The thief is a middle-aged, heavy-set, white female with brown hair and eyeglasses wearing a black dress with a floral pattern, police said.

Anyone with information should call the Sugar Land Police Department or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers.
