Officer shot at in northwest Houston; 3 suspects on the run, police say

HOUSTON – A police officer was shot at while investigating an auto burglary in northwest Houston early Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

The shooting was reported about 1:45 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Seaspray Court, near 18th Street.

According to Houston police, the officer was working an extra job at the complex when he  heard a car alarm near the leasing office. He went to investigate and saw three men trying to break into the vehicle. The officer identified himself as an Houston Police Department officer, and the group ran through the complex and into a field.

As the officer was chasing the group, one of the men turned and fired four shots, investigators said.

Police said the officer was not injured and did not return fire.

The group got away.
