Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation burglarized

Police say laptops, monitor stolen

HOUSTON – Police said they are investigating after the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation in west Houston was burglarized Saturday night.

The break-in happened about 10:40 p.m. at the building in the 7800 block of San Felipe Street.

According to Houston police, the burglars forced their way through a wood door and stole four laptops and a 55-inch television monitor.

Police said an employee reported the break-in at 8:15 a.m. Sunday.

"We are working closely with police and building management in response to the incident that occurred late Sunday evening. Since the situation is currently under investigation by the Houston Police Department, we ask that you reach out to them directly for more information," Dr. Julie Baker Finck, President of the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, said in a statement.

Investigators said they are reviewing video from security cameras.
