Fire near Washington appears to be under control

USA Today reports the fire appeared to have started at the Flower Branch Apartments in the Long Branch neighborhood of Silver Springs, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C.

More than 160 firefighters and emergency workers made "numerous rescues" in the 8600 block of Piney Branch Road, according to Montgomery County Fire officials.
