Mother tries to smuggle meth in baby's clothes, Border Patrol says

Brownsville – A Texas mother was arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle meth under her baby's clothes.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said it happened Aug. 3 at the Brownsville Port of Entry.

According to investigators, the 19-year-old woman tried to come back into the country in the pedestrian lane with her infant child when she was selected for a secondary examination.

Agents discovered four packages hidden under the woman's clothing and two additional packages under the baby's clothes.

Border Patrol said the packages held more than seven pounds of meth worth an estimated street value of nearly $142,000.

The woman was turned over to Homeland Security for additional review.
