Man charged in connection with La Marque bank robbery


LA MARQUE, Texas – On Aug. 9, 2016 at approximately 3:14 p.m. the La Marque Police Department received a 911 call from Associated Credit Union of Texas regarding a robbery that just occurred. ACU is located at 920 1st Street, La Marque, Texas.

According to police reports, a man entered the bank and passed a note to the teller. The note indicated that an explosive device (bomb) was thrown on top of the building and the man then demanded the money.

Approximately $3,800 in cash was given to the suspect, who then fled on foot. After a search the suspect was located at True Courage which is a Half-Way-House close to ACU. No explosive device was located.

Based on information they had, authorities took the suspect into custody. The suspect was originally taken into custody for a parole violation. At the time of the press release the man was being interviewed at the La Marque Police Department.

The suspect has been identified as Isaac Herrera, 40. The La Marque Police Department will provide additional information as it becomes available.

Herrera was charged with robbery and is in custody with the Galveston County Sheriff's Office.
