A man died after he was shot during a family gathering at a home in northeast Houston late Friday night, police said.
The shooting was reported about 9:30 p.m. at a home in the 8600 block of Valley Meadow near Valley Wind.
Houston police said they were called to the home after someone reported that James M. Stegall had been shot in the head. Stegall, 37, was dead inside the home when officers arrived.
Police said witnesses said they heard gunshots coming from the home, but they did not see who fired the shots.
Police said they want to speak with Jeffrey Stegall, who was at the scene at the time of the shooting.
