Officers hit with chair during Houston bar brawl

2 people arrested, face assault charges

HOUSTON – Police said two officers were hit with a chair during a brawl early Saturday morning in northern Houston.

The fight was reported about 1:30 a.m. at a cantina at the intersection of Irvington Boulevard and Collingsworth Street.

According to Houston police, two uniformed officers were working at the cantina when they asked two drunk men to leave. The men became belligerent and began fighting with the officers. One of the men grabbed a chair and hit both officers with it.

Eventually, the men were arrested. They each face a charge of assault on a peace officer.

The officers suffered minor cuts. No other injuries were reported.
