Cinco Ranch neighborhood residents on edge after carjacking

CINCO RANCH, Texas – Fort Bend County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a suspect who held a man at gunpoint and stole his BMW.

The crime happened at 6 a.m. at a home in the 5100 block of Cinco Falls Drive. The man was in his driveway when it happened.

Deputies found the vehicle abandoned not too far away in the 3600 block of Windmoor Drive in Katy.

People who live in the neighborhood are on heightened alert after hearing about the incident, violent crime is not something that happens often in this typically quiet neighborhood.

“Stuff like this makes you realize that you can’t have your guard down even here…anywhere!,” said Mariss Herrera, who lives around the block. She wants to make sure all of her neighbors know about the recent crime so they can be a little bit more careful.

“I’m just going to be more aware when I’m coming in and out of my house,” she said. “And just tell everyone that’s not aware of it so they can also be a little bit more careful.”
