Man leads police on high-speed chase through Harris County

HOUSTON – One man was arrested after a police chase ended in northwest Houston.

Police said it started as a traffic stop around 1:30 a.m. after the driver ran a stop sign near Antoine and Hempstead. Instead of pulling over, the driver took off, police said.

According to police, the driver reached speeds of 100 miles per hour and tossed a backpack out of the window.

The chase ended when the man pulled into an apartment complex off Tidwell and 290 and tried to run, but police quickly caught and arrested him.
